Decommissioning (disable or deleting) a camera

There are 3 main reasons for Decomissioning a camera covered below.

1. If the reason you are decomissioning a camera is due to a swapout replacement, then the best practice is to take the old camera offline, and bring the replacement camera online at the same IP as the old one.  This may require you to edit the camera in Qumulex and update the username and password to match the new device.  Doing this will ensure a seamless search experience of old and new video data.

2. If the reason you are decomissioning is simply to remove the camera from live and searched video, but still would like the option of reviewing data on it if truly necessary, you will want to Disable the device.

  • First browse to the Cameras page using the Menu on the left
  • Then click on the camera you wish to disable
  • Click Edit Camera, and then click the Toggle labeled "Enabled" to No
  • Then scroll to the bottom and select Save

3. If you need to truly delete the camera you can do so from a similar menu as option 2. Please note once you delete the camera you will no longer be able to acess live OR recorded video from the device.
NOTE:  If this camera has video stored in the cloud it will not fully delete right away when this is completed.  It will disable the device until the cloud stored video has expired, and then automatically remove it.

  • Browse to the Cameras Page using the Menu on the left
  • Click on the camea you wish to delete
  • Click Edit Camera and scroll to the bottom right and select Delete Camera
  • You will need to click OK to a few messages confirming the action.
